Bad affiliate! Stay away!

First off I just want to apologize for being missing from the blogging world for so long! I haven’t been feeling 100% and had a bad experience with an affiliate program which deterred me from even looking at my blog. BUT I’m back now and thought I would share my experience to advise people to stay clear of the company Nora Nyc. I’ll start from the beginning.

At the very start of January I was contacted by the company Nora Nyc to be featured wearing a pair of their sunglasses on one of their social media outlets. They would send me one pair of glasses of my choice, in return I would pay the price of shipping and post pictures on my social medias. Because their sunglasses are beautiful and very much my style I wasn’t hesitant and made the payment on January 18th, 2016. I received a payment email shortly after but am STILL awaiting a shipment email. This is the response I received after my first couple of emails with concerns –

Hello!

Thanks for contacting us. Your item was shipped out as it shows in our system. Your information has been forwarded to our shipping department and will contact you within 2-5 business days regarding your tracking information.

Any further questions please dont hesitate to ask and we thank you for your patience.

This email was received February 23rd 2016! We are now hitting the end of March, well over 2-5 business days. In the past couple of weeks I’ve sent 3 emails to the company asking for a refund of my money and NONE of which have received answers! I was duped, they took my money (which ended up being a good amount of money with the exchange) and received nothing in return. So friends moral of the story, do not give any of your money to this company! STAY CLEAR OFF NORA NYC!!

  1. Omg I’m so sorry to hear about this. I can’t believe they would do something so horrible. Bloggers are such a crucial part of marketing for companies I can’t believe one would completely screw you over. I hope you get your refund.

  2. Omgsh this is so terrible girl!! I am so sorry to hear a company did this to you!! I will definitely stay away!! Thanks for the warning. I never reply back to any company that will charge me for shipping or anything. If they want me to work to review their products, then I believe I shouldn’t have to pay for the item. If I love it, I will buy it once I have finished the freebie. It takes a lot of work for us bloggers to write up a review and take pictures. I hope this never happens to you again love!

      1. Exactly! If they are asking you for any type of money, it most likely is a scam and run haha! At least that is what I have learned. If they are legit, they want you to review their product and won’t charge you a dime.

  3. My blog/channel is so insignificant that I’ve never been reached out to be part of an affiliate program — neither do I think I should waste my time applying.

This affiliate and sponsor world is so under wraps that for anyone like me, just trying to make a bit of money to pay for the makeup I want to review, feels so far away and almost shady.

Thank you for coming out with speaking a bit about these colabs and letting us know that not every affiliate program is ok.

I’m sorry for what happened to you, truly.

  4. So sorry to hear that!! I’d steer clear of companies offering ‘freebies’ but asking for a payment (no matter if it’s for postage, handling or whatever).

You might be able to get your money back – but it depends on how you paid and it depends on the terms and conditions of the credit card / debit card or whatever you used. I recommend you get in touch with your card provider / bank / paypal (whatever’s applicable) and tell them you paid for the delivery of a product you never received – so you want your money back. They will then tell you if they can give you a refund or not. I can’t tell you if you’ll be successful, but I think you should definitely get in touch with them and find out about your options.

    Fingers crossed! xx

  5. I purchased 2 pairs and received only 1. I was told a month ago that they were shipping my second pair in a similar email you received. Nothing. No response to any emails. HORRIBLE COMPANY!

  6. They have contacted me too! I’m glad that I have done some research first. Thank you for sharing this! xx

  7. Thank goodness I researched this company! I was on the fence about joining when they asked because it seemed to good to be true. I’m sorry they duped you, but at least your review has helped other people steer clear from this affiliate program!
